Kitui, Makueni & Taita Taveta Dioceses
Established in 2023, the Community Development Trust activity in the Tsavo Conservation Area, implemented by Five Talents Kenya with support from USAID, has made significant strides in addressing human-wildlife conflict and climate change. In partnership with the dioceses of Taita Taveta, Makueni, and Kitui, the program has onboarded over 3,700 members, with 100% trained on climate change adaptation. Recognized as one of the fastest-growing programs in the Five Talents portfolio, it empowers local communities, promotes resilience, and fosters sustainable livelihoods and co-existence with wildlife across these three dioceses/counties.
Noni Kalola, a single mother of five from Kitui County, has faced unimaginable struggles, failing crops, financial hardship, and the fear of not being able to provide forher children. But she refused to let adversity break her spirit. When shediscovered Five Talents Kenya, she found more than just financial training-she found hope. Through the ASCA savings model, she learned to budget, save, and access small loans, giving her the power tobuild a future she once thought
impossible. Her journey didn’t end with financial stability. In a land where drought seemed relentless, Noni turned to climate-smart agriculture, applying techniques that restored her farm’s productivity and ensured her childrenwould never go to bed hungry again.
