WECODET: Maseno North, Mumias and Butere Dioceses.

The Western Community Development Trust (WECODET) was established in 2018 by the dioceses of Mumias, Butere, and Maseno North, initially operating as a cluster under one secretariat until December 2024. Currently, each diocese
runs its own independent program: BUCODET for Butere, MCODET for Mumias, and MANCODET for Maseno North. Together, the region has over 2,800 members and has accumulated savings exceeding 20 million. Similar to other programs, the ASCA model is used to train trust group members on savings and loaning, empowering them to improve their financial stability and support sustainable community development.

Success Story

Thanks to WECODET, Rebecca Makokha Akoyo’s dream of a better life for her children is becoming a reality. Her business is thriving, providing her family with a decent life-quality education, shelter, meals, and security. From earning Kshs. 1,000 daily, Rebecca has built a future for her children and herself, fueled by the affordable loans and savings offered by WECODET.
In 2022, Rebecca was struggling to provide for her two children, with limited capital and a small retail shop, cereals, firewood, and MPesa business. Joining WECODET and its Trust Group changed everything. Starting with a Kshs. 15,000 loan, she expanded her stock and grew her business. By taking out larger loans of up to 100,000, Rebecca increased her profits and stock value.
WECODET’s support has been the key to her growth, transforming her life and offering a brighter future. With your support, others like her can break free from poverty and build brighter future for themselves and their families.
